I'm Alex Schmidt and I'm a 3rd year MEng Mechanical Engineering student at Imperial College London. This site is a portfolio of various design projects and modelled parts that I have done over the years from during and before university. This is an accumulation of some of my work through my 7+ years worth of experience with SOLIDWORKs, lending me significant modelling experience with the software - even being awarded 1st place in Techsoft's under-19 SOLIDWORKs competition for the UK in 2019. I've also gained proficiency in other software such as Blender, in which I've gained skills in manually refining and cleaning up mesh topology and producing UV-unwraps for texturing in Adobe Substance Painter. Which allows me to produce higher quality product renders and animations in SOLIDWORKs Visualize.
My primary interest is turbomachinery which you'll find is a common theme throughout my portfolio. They're intricately amazing and complex machines and I wish to be in the forefront of its cutting edge development.
